Dave Jackson

Dave picked up his first guitar when he was 5 years old only to find his fingers were too small to play. He picked it back up when he was 12, and hasn't put it down since. While working at a local grocery store, Dave would bring his guitar with him to work, so he could play on his lunch hour. It was here that the nickname "Jammin' Dave" was created and those that have heard him play know why.

And what did Dave do before he was a Sugar Daddy?  Born and raised in Akron (Ellet), he was in his first band by age 16 and always had to deal with the hassle of convincing the bouncers that really I'M WITH THE BAND. During High School he was in bands and groups that changed their names about once a month. Dave's early influences were Angus Young, Ace Frehley, and Chuck Berry. Later Dave graduated to more sophisticated heroes like Ted Nugent. Not only did Dave copy every Nugent lick on the planet, but he also copied his "no drugs" stance (that's ok, the rest of the band makes up for it - ha ha). Later Dave's heroes would be  Randy Rhoads, Michael Schenker (UFO), and Eddie Van Halen. But if you were to come to Dave's house any time during 1978-1983, you probably would have found him playing the blues with friends.Jammin at age 5

After graduating from College, Dave placed an ad in Scene Magazine for a Blues based band, and Phil (our first drummer) answered the call. Later he met Bobby Jackson (Dave's step-twin brother), and was so impressed with Bobby's dedication to the blues that he joined forces with Bobby without really hearing him sing.

Dave's favorite thing about being a Sugar Daddy is performing live. When Dave "gets in the groove" he swears the feelings that he's putting into his playing "Comes from his toes."  As he put it, "To me it's a win-win situation. When the crowd likes what I play they clap. Their clapping makes me play better, which makes them clap more. It snowballs, and everyone has a great night and we all go home dripped in sweat."
